At Hope Tree School we understand that being in a large communal space with lots of people, lots of noise and differing smells can sometimes feel overwhelming for our students. As such we as a school have ensured that our lunchtime arrangements can meet the social, emotional and sensory needs of our students. Our provision includes the following:
- All class spaces have a communal table where students can eat their lunch alongside their peers and in small groups.
- All students bring a packed lunch to school to ensure availability of their preferred foods.
- Lunch is supported by staff members who are able to role model and facilitate social interaction during lunch.
- There are a variety of outside spaces where students can choose to eat (weather dependent).
Additional lunch time activities
On specific days and at specific times of the year staff will offer a variety of different structured activities which can take place during the lunchtime period. Examples of this include Spanish-based activity, Gardening activities and craft-based activity.
